Professor Władysław Czapliński, Professor Of Law, Senior Partner, Attorney-At-Law

Since 1992 an employee and since 2004 Director of the Institute of Legal Sciences, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, since 2001 professor of the European Centre, Warsaw University. Between 1988-1990 and in 1995 holder of Alexander von Humboldt prestigious scholarship at the University of Tübingen and Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg (Germany). Visiting professor at the universities in Paris, Nice and Frankfurt (Oder). Between 1999-2005 member of the Prime Minister’s Legislative Board. Since 2004 chairman of the European Law Consultative Committee to the Minister of Justice and since 1998 member of the Legal Consultative Committee to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Rapporteur of the ILA Committee on State Succession (London) and member of the German Association of International Law and French Association of International Law. A renowned specialist in international public law (particularly the liability of states for violation of the law) and EU law, the author of a few monographs (e.g. on the cooperation of courts within the European Union), textbooks (e.g. “Sędzia krajowy a prawo międzynarodowe”, co-authored with A. Wyrozumska, the only textbook of international law for Polish court judges) and many articles published in Polish and foreign periodicals. Served as a government expert in arbitration proceedings and participated in proceedings before the European Tribunal of Human Rights in Strasbourg and before the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. Professor Władysław Czapliński is Senior Partner of the Office, head of the team providing legal assistance in cases related to international court and arbitration proceedings and to European standards of corporate governance, competition protection and public aid.
